The proposed solar and renewable energy projects in Gautam Buddha Nagar are expected to generate more than 20,000 employment opportunities and further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy ecosystem.
Uttar Pradesh is set to receive a major boost to its renewable energy ambitions, with leading clean energy companies submitting fresh investment proposals worth more than ₹35,400 crore in the state.
Five projects spanning solar and renewable energy have been proposed in Gautam Buddha Nagar, with the investments expected to create more than 20,000 job opportunities while strengthening the state’s renewable energy manufacturing and generation ecosystem.
Among the major proposals, Avaada Electro Limited has committed to invest ₹16,139 crore in the state. The project is expected to generate around 7,400 jobs, making it the largest investment proposal among the five projects.
SAEL Solar P6 Private Limited has proposed an investment of ₹8,000 crore, while Oriana Power Limited plans to invest ₹4,500 crore. CESC Green Power Limited and IB Solar have proposed investments of ₹3,805 crore and ₹3,000 crore, respectively.
Together, the five projects represent an investment pipeline of more than ₹35,400 crore and could significantly expand Uttar Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity while creating employment across the clean energy value chain.
Investment Supported by State Policies
According to a senior state government official, Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing growing investor interest due to its customised incentive framework and a range of policies designed to attract large-scale industrial investments.
These include the Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion (IIEP) Policy 2022, the FDI/FCI and Fortune 500 Investment Promotion Policy 2023, and the Semiconductor Policy 2024.
The state government believes that aligning incentives with individual project requirements, combined with faster approvals and administrative support, has helped create a more favourable environment for both domestic and international investors.
The official said that by aligning incentives with project requirements and ensuring speedy approvals, Uttar Pradesh has created an ecosystem where global and domestic manufacturers can operate with greater confidence and efficiency.
The latest renewable energy proposals add to the state’s broader efforts to position itself as a major destination for clean energy investment.
Tata Power Expands Solar Microgrid Network
Alongside the new investment proposals, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) is also expanding its solar-powered microgrid network across Uttar Pradesh.
The company’s microgrid business, TP Renewable Microgrid (TPRMG), currently has an installed microgrid capacity of 4.5 MW in the state.
According to Manoj Kumar Gupta, CEO of TP Renewable Microgrid, the company’s projects generate approximately 5.74 million units of clean electricity every year.
The microgrid network combines solar power with energy-efficient technologies, bioenergy solutions and local entrepreneurship. The objective is to create more resilient rural energy systems while making clean energy a driver of local economic development.
The company said its projects have already helped reduce diesel consumption by approximately 2.36 million litres, resulting in an estimated reduction of around 6,400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Renewable Energy Investments Could Support Wider Industrial Growth
The Uttar Pradesh government expects the new renewable energy investments to generate benefits beyond the projects themselves.
As the proposed facilities are developed, they could create demand for supporting businesses and services, potentially strengthening ancillary industries and MSMEs associated with the renewable energy supply chain.
The investments could also contribute to employment generation and greater domestic participation in the clean energy sector.
The state government views the growing pipeline of renewable energy projects as evidence of increasing investor confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s business environment.
With large-scale solar and renewable energy investments being proposed alongside expanding rural microgrid infrastructure, the state is seeking to use clean energy not only as a source of electricity but also as an engine for industrial development and economic growth.
The government expects the investments to contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s broader ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy, while accelerating the state’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.
