Indian fintech company Navi is set to raise $100 million from Dutch technology investor Prosus, marking its first institutional funding round as the company prepares for a potential initial public offering (IPO).
The investment comes at an important stage for Navi, which is reportedly targeting a valuation of around $2 billion in its IPO.
Prosus Invests in Navi
Navi said the $100 million investment will come from Prosus, although the valuation at which the investment was made has not been disclosed.
The Economic Times reported that the transaction values Navi at approximately $1.3 billion.
The investment will also require regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
IPO Could Value Navi at $2 Billion
The funding round comes as Navi prepares for a potential public listing.
A source familiar with the matter said the fintech is seeking a valuation of around $2 billion in its planned IPO. However, Navi has not officially confirmed its IPO valuation or timeline.
If the listing goes ahead at that valuation, it would mark a significant step for the company and its founder Sachin Bansal.
From Flipkart to Fintech
Navi was founded in 2018 by Sachin Bansal, who previously co-founded Flipkart, one of India’s largest e-commerce companies.
The company has built a digital financial-services platform offering products including digital payments, lending, mutual funds and insurance.
Its business model is built around providing multiple financial services through a single digital platform, targeting India’s rapidly expanding digital-finance market.
Why the Investment Matters
The Prosus investment comes as India’s fintech sector continues to mature, with investors increasingly looking for companies that can demonstrate sustainable growth and move toward public markets.
For Navi, the funding could strengthen its position ahead of an IPO while providing additional capital as it expands its financial-services business.
The proposed transaction also highlights the growing interest of global technology investors in India’s fintech ecosystem.
