Gruner Renewable Energy (GRE) has appointed Dr Alok Sharma, former Director (R&D) and Board Member of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), as Mentor & Advisor (Research & Development). The appointment is expected to strengthen the company’s technology and innovation capabilities as it expands its clean energy portfolio across India.
Dr Sharma is one of India’s leading energy scientists with decades of experience in the downstream energy sector. He currently serves as a Visiting Chair Professor at IIT Bombay and a Professor of Practice at IIT Roorkee. He is also the Senior Vice President of the Hydrogen Association of India and President of the National Lubricating Grease Institute – India.
A Chemical Engineering graduate from IIT Delhi, Dr Sharma has played a significant role in advancing India’s refining and energy technologies. His research spans hydrogen energy, gasification, solar energy, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), biofuels and advanced lubricant technologies. Over the course of his career, he has been granted more than 60 patents worldwide, reflecting his contribution to innovation in the energy sector.
