July 2: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the state has emerged as a frontrunner in India’s clean energy transition, claiming it is ahead of other states in green energy production. He announced that the government has set an ambitious target of generating 160 gigawatts (GW) of green energy and has already signed agreements covering 100 GW of renewable energy projects.
Naidu made the announcement while laying the foundation stone for Hero MotoCorp’s Global Parts Centre 2.0 at Madannapalem in Satyavedu, Tirupati district. He said the state government is taking transformative measures to accelerate industrial development while ensuring Andhra Pradesh becomes a major hub for renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.
Highlighting the government’s industrial policy, the Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh is implementing a ‘Speed of Doing Business’ approach to facilitate faster project approvals and timely execution. He added that the state is strengthening its industrial ecosystem by expanding road, rail, port and airport connectivity while ensuring adequate water supply for both industries and agriculture.
Naidu emphasised that the government’s focus extends beyond signing investment agreements, with equal priority being given to developing infrastructure that enables companies to commence operations without delays. He noted that the state is committed to providing all necessary support to industries investing in Andhra Pradesh.
Referring to the growing interest from technology companies, Naidu said firms such as Google are planning to establish data centres in Visakhapatnam. However, he added that the government is proceeding cautiously with such projects by carefully assessing the availability of critical resources, including electricity and water, to ensure sustainable development.
The Chief Minister also urged Hero MotoCorp to move forward with its previously announced ₹3,200 crore expansion plan, stating that the investment would further strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s manufacturing sector and generate significant employment opportunities.
Praising the company’s workforce, Naidu highlighted that women account for nearly 40% of Hero MotoCorp’s employees. He said women from Andhra Pradesh are known for their strong work ethic and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, making them an important part of the state’s industrial growth story.
With an aggressive renewable energy target, expanding industrial investments and continued infrastructure development, Andhra Pradesh aims to position itself as one of India’s leading destinations for clean energy production and sustainable industrial growth.
