July 2: NLC India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Auroville Foundation to provide electric vehicles under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The initiative, valued at ₹21.40 lakh, is aimed at promoting clean mobility and supporting sustainable transportation within the Auroville community.
The CSR project reflects NLC India’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability and is expected to help reduce carbon emissions by encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. The initiative also aligns with Auroville Foundation’s long-standing efforts in renewable energy, environmental conservation and sustainable community development.
Through the partnership, the electric vehicles will be deployed to improve eco-friendly transportation across Auroville, supporting the community’s vision of sustainable living while reducing dependence on conventional fuel-powered vehicles. The project is expected to contribute to cleaner air, lower emissions and greener mobility solutions.
The MoU was signed on June 26, 2026, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. Representing NLC India Limited were Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director; Samir Swarup, Director (HR); D.V.S. Narayana Murthy, Executive Director (Corporate Legal, CSR & Medical); and T. Chellam, Deputy General Manager and Unit Head (CSR).
The Auroville Foundation was represented by Dr. G. Seetharaman, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), and Selvaganapathi, Procurement Officer, during the exchange of the MoU.
The collaboration highlights the shared commitment of NLC India and Auroville Foundation to advancing sustainable development through responsible corporate initiatives. By investing in clean mobility infrastructure, the project supports India’s broader transition towards greener transportation while reinforcing the role of CSR in driving environmental and community-focused development.
