Renewable energy major Suzlon Energy has secured a 201.6 MW wind power Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract from Waaree Forever Energies Pvt. Ltd., the Independent Power Producer (IPP) arm of the Waaree Group. The project will be developed in Andhra Pradesh under the increasingly popular DevCo (Developer Company) model, marking another significant milestone in India’s expanding clean energy sector.
The order represents Waaree Group’s first-ever wind energy project as well as its maiden DevCo-led renewable energy development, while further strengthening Suzlon’s position as one of India’s leading wind energy solution providers.
Comprehensive EPC Execution
As part of the agreement, Suzlon will deliver a complete end-to-end project execution package, including:
- Land acquisition
- Supply of wind turbines
- Balance of Plant (BoP) infrastructure
- Installation and commissioning
- Lifetime operations and maintenance (O&M)
The company will deploy 64 units of its flagship S144 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 3.15 MW, taking the total installed capacity to 201.6 MW.
With this latest order, Suzlon’s total order book in Andhra Pradesh has now approached the 1 GW milestone.
DevCo Model Gains Momentum
Suzlon noted that as renewable energy projects continue to grow in scale and complexity, the DevCo model is rapidly emerging as a preferred approach across the industry.
Unlike traditional EPC contracts, the DevCo model allows developers to receive an integrated solution from project conceptualisation to long-term operations, reducing development risks while accelerating execution timelines.
The company highlighted that this is its second consecutive DevCo-based EPC order within a week, reflecting growing market confidence in its integrated project development capabilities.
Strategic Partnership
Suzlon Vice Chairman Girish Tanti described the collaboration as strategically important, saying it brings together two companies that have played pioneering roles in India’s renewable energy journey.
He noted that while Suzlon has built one of India’s largest wind energy manufacturing ecosystems, Waaree Group has emerged as a major force in the solar sector, making the partnership a natural step toward expanding India’s clean energy infrastructure.
Suzlon CEO Ajay Kapur added that the company’s integrated project development and EPC capabilities are becoming a major competitive advantage as renewable energy developers increasingly seek single-partner execution models.
Waaree Enters Wind Energy
For Waaree Group, the project marks an important diversification beyond its strong presence in the solar energy industry.

He added that the partnership with Suzlon is expected to pave the way for long-term collaboration in building a stronger renewable energy ecosystem.
Boost to India’s Green Energy Goals
The project comes at a time when India is aggressively expanding its renewable energy capacity to achieve its target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Large-scale wind projects, particularly in states such as Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, are expected to play a crucial role alongside solar energy in ensuring reliable clean power generation.
The latest order not only enhances Suzlon’s growing project pipeline but also reinforces investor confidence in India’s rapidly expanding wind energy sector and the increasing adoption of integrated renewable energy development models.
