Chennai, Nov 25 : Star Health Insurance, India’s leading health insurer, has introduced its pioneering CSR initiative, ‘Star Arogya Digi Seva,’ in collaboration with the Center for Chronic Disease and Control (CCDC). This initiative integrates telemedicine technology with Mobile Health Units (MHUs) to revolutionize healthcare delivery in underserved rural communities.
The program will target 74 villages across 10 districts in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, including 5 Aspirational Districts. It focuses on managing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension while promoting iron nutrition awareness and preventive healthcare.
Anand Roy, MD & CEO of Star Health Insurance, highlighted the initiative’s mission: “Star Arogya Digi Seva is a commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all, irrespective of their location. By merging advanced technology with doorstep healthcare services, we aim to empower communities, prevent diseases, and transform lives.” He added that the initiative aligns with IRDAI’s vision of ‘Insurance for All’ and seeks to drive awareness about adequate health coverage in rural areas.
The initiative features state-of-the-art Mobile Health Units equipped for diagnostics, real-time consultations, immediate treatment, and follow-ups. It emphasizes a patient-centric approach, combining telemedicine for remote consultations with physical treatments provided at people’s doorsteps. Initially, the program will focus on Ramanathapuram, Manapparai, and Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
