Saudi Arabia’s newest premium airline, Riyadh Air, has officially announced its entry into the Indian aviation market with the launch of daily non-stop flights between Mumbai and Riyadh, beginning August 4, 2026. The move marks a significant milestone in the airline’s global expansion strategy and is expected to strengthen air connectivity between India, Saudi Arabia, Europe, and the wider Middle East.
Bookings for the new route opened on July 6, offering Indian travellers a fresh premium travel option to Saudi Arabia’s capital and beyond. The service will be operated using the airline’s modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring a four-class cabin configuration comprising Business Elite, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy, catering to both luxury and budget-conscious passengers.
The Mumbai-Riyadh route becomes the ninth destination in Riyadh Air’s rapidly expanding global network. The airline, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), has ambitious plans to connect more than 100 international destinations by 2030 as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to transform Riyadh into a major global aviation hub.
Speaking on the launch, Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said India represents one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world, making it a strategic priority for the airline. He added that the new service will provide Indian travellers with greater connectivity to Saudi Arabia while also offering seamless onward connections to several European destinations.
The airline expects the route to serve multiple categories of passengers, including business travellers, tourists, religious pilgrims, and the large Indian expatriate community living in Saudi Arabia. In addition to direct connectivity between Mumbai and Riyadh, passengers will be able to conveniently connect to destinations such as London, Madrid, Jeddah, and Cairo through Riyadh’s expanding international network.
The launch also reflects the growing economic and tourism ties between India and Saudi Arabia. With increasing business investments, rising leisure travel, and stronger bilateral relations, demand for direct air connectivity between the two countries has continued to grow over the past few years.
Since its launch in March 2023, Riyadh Air has positioned itself as a premium international carrier focused on modern aircraft, enhanced passenger experience, and global connectivity. The airline aims to play a central role in Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil by boosting tourism, trade, and international travel.
Industry experts believe the arrival of Riyadh Air in India will intensify competition on the India–Middle East corridor, offering passengers more choices while further strengthening Mumbai’s position as one of the country’s busiest international aviation gateways.
