Indian boxing delivered a double delight at the 2026 Commonwealth Games as Preeti Pawar and Jaismine Lamboria clinched gold medals in the women’s 54kg and 57kg categories, respectively, with commanding performances on Saturday.
The twin victories added two more gold medals to India’s boxing tally and reinforced the country’s growing dominance in women’s boxing on the Commonwealth stage.
Preeti Pawar Clinches Maiden Commonwealth Games Gold
Twenty-two-year-old Preeti Pawar produced a flawless performance to defeat Canada’s Scarlett Delgado by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the women’s 54kg final.
The Indian boxer dominated the contest from the opening bell, using her speed, footwork and precise combinations to control the bout.
Preeti swept the opening round, with all five judges awarding her a 10-8 score, before maintaining complete control through the remaining rounds to secure her first Commonwealth Games gold medal.
Her triumph follows an equally impressive semifinal performance, where she registered a 5-0 unanimous victory over Zambia’s Catherine Mwape.
Jaismine Lamboria Defeats Defending Champion
In the women’s 57kg final, reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria outclassed Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh, the defending Commonwealth Games champion, to win gold with another comprehensive 5-0 unanimous decision.
Jaismine displayed exceptional tactical discipline, superior movement and consistent attacking combinations throughout the contest, leaving little opportunity for Walsh to mount a comeback.
The victory further strengthens Jaismine’s reputation as one of India’s leading boxers and adds another major international title to her growing list of achievements.
India’s Boxing Momentum Continues
The double gold haul highlights India’s strong performance in boxing at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, with the country’s women boxers continuing to deliver medal-winning performances on the international stage.
