New Delhi, June 26: NTPC Mouda has reached a major milestone in its renewable energy expansion programme with the commencement of solar panel installation for its 1.4 MW ground-mounted solar power plant. The development follows the successful completion of the project’s superstructure works.
The project forms part of NTPC’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio and supports the Government of India’s objective of increasing the share of clean energy in the country’s overall power generation mix.
The first solar panels were installed during a ceremony attended by senior NTPC officials and project partners, marking the transition from the construction phase to equipment installation.
Once commissioned, the solar power plant is expected to strengthen NTPC Mouda’s renewable energy capacity while reducing dependence on conventional sources of electricity. The project is also expected to support cleaner power generation and contribute to the company’s long-term sustainability goals.
According to NTPC, the plant is projected to generate approximately 2.7 million units of clean electricity annually, helping avoid nearly 2,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions every year. The renewable energy generated will play a significant role in reducing the environmental footprint of the township and supporting India’s climate action targets.
The project is being implemented at an estimated cost of ₹5.80 crore and represents another step in NTPC’s ongoing efforts to integrate renewable energy solutions across its operations.
Upon completion, NTPC Mouda Township is expected to become a Net Zero Energy Township, meeting its annual electricity requirements through renewable energy generation. The township has already achieved the distinction of being a Net Zero Water Township through various water conservation and management initiatives.
NTPC has been steadily expanding its renewable energy portfolio across the country as part of its long-term strategy to diversify its energy mix and accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon economy. The Mouda solar project is expected to further strengthen the company’s clean energy roadmap while supporting India’s sustainable development objectives.
