Juniper Green Energy has emerged as the successful bidder for a 230 MW renewable energy project under the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) 1,000 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) round-the-clock tender.
The company secured the project at a tariff of ₹5.26 per unit, further expanding its portfolio of projects designed to deliver reliable renewable electricity through a combination of solar, wind and battery energy storage.
25-Year Power Purchase Agreement
The project will be backed by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SECI, providing long-term revenue visibility for Juniper Green Energy.
The project’s Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) has been set at 24 months from the effective date of the PPA.
The formal Letter of Award is expected to be issued within the timelines specified under the tender conditions.
Project to Deliver Round-the-Clock Renewable Power
Unlike conventional solar projects that generate electricity primarily during daylight hours, the FDRE project is designed to provide renewable power according to scheduled demand requirements.
The project will integrate:
- Solar power generation
- Wind energy
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Integrated power management
This combination will allow Juniper Green Energy to provide more consistent and predictable renewable electricity throughout the day.
Strict Delivery Requirements
Under the SECI tender conditions, Juniper Green Energy will have to meet specific Delivered Firm Round-the-Clock (DFR) commitments.
The project must achieve:
- Minimum 90% DFR during designated peak hours
- 50–60% DFR during solar hours
- 70% DFR during non-solar, non-peak hours
These requirements are intended to ensure that renewable power is available when required rather than being dependent solely on solar and wind generation patterns.
Strengthening Juniper’s FDRE Portfolio
The latest award adds to Juniper Green Energy’s growing portfolio of firm and dispatchable renewable energy and round-the-clock power projects.
The company is increasingly focusing on integrated renewable projects that combine multiple generation technologies with energy storage to address one of the biggest challenges facing renewable energy—intermittency.
By combining solar, wind and BESS, the company aims to convert variable renewable generation into a more reliable electricity supply suitable for India’s evolving power requirements.
Focus on Large-Scale Renewable Projects
