JSW Energy has strengthened its position in India’s fast-growing energy storage sector after its step-down subsidiary, JSW Energy PSP Eleven (JEPEL), secured a ₹443.74 crore order from Bondada Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bondada Engineering. The contract involves the supply of advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions for a large-scale renewable energy project.
Under the agreement, JEPEL will deliver a 200 MW/400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) along with Power Conversion System (PCS) solutions. The project is expected to enhance grid stability, improve renewable energy integration and support efficient energy management by storing excess electricity generated from renewable sources for use during peak demand.
The battery systems for the project will be manufactured at JEPEL’s battery assembly facility in Pune, which has an annual production capacity of 5 GWh. The facility forms a key part of JSW Energy’s strategy to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and support India’s growing demand for utility-scale energy storage solutions.
The latest order further expands JSW Energy’s rapidly growing energy storage portfolio. The company currently has a locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, including 14.53 GW of operational power assets, nearly 13 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable energy projects, and an additional 4.6 GW in the development pipeline.
In the energy storage segment, JSW Energy has built a locked-in storage capacity of 29.6 GWh, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro energy storage and 3.2 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The company continues to invest aggressively in storage technologies as India accelerates its transition towards renewable energy and grid modernisation.
As part of the JSW Group, the company operates across electricity generation, transmission and renewable energy development. Its expanding portfolio of solar, wind, hydro, pumped storage and battery energy storage projects aligns with India’s long-term clean energy and net-zero ambitions.
The company also reported strong financial performance for the fourth quarter of FY26. Consolidated net profit increased 38.36% year-on-year to ₹573.53 crore, while revenue from operations grew 41.04% to ₹4,498.58 crore, driven by higher operational capacity and continued business expansion.
With the latest BESS order, JSW Energy further reinforces its commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition through large-scale renewable energy infrastructure and advanced energy storage solutions.
