New Delhi, June 23: Indian rider Chiranth Vishwanath scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win a race at Japan’s renowned Mobility Resort Motegi circuit during the third round of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship.
The 18-year-old rider from Bengaluru delivered an impressive performance in the TVS Asia Championship category, securing a race victory and a fourth-place finish across the weekend to strengthen his position in the championship standings.
After qualifying in fourth place, Chiranth showcased strong pace throughout the event. Riding a TVS Apache RR 310, he took the lead from the start of Race 1 and looked in control for much of the contest.
A collision with another rider during the fifth lap dropped him down the order, but the young Indian produced a remarkable comeback. Demonstrating determination and skill, he overtook three competitors on the final lap to claim a memorable victory — his first win of the championship season.
In Race 2, Chiranth once again delivered a competitive performance and remained in contention near the front of the field. Running in second position for most of the race, he appeared set for another podium finish before contact with a rival rider on the final lap pushed him down to fourth place.
Despite the setback, the combined results from both races provided a significant boost to his championship campaign. The strong showing helped him climb to fourth place in the overall standings as he continues to establish himself among Asia’s rising motorcycle racing talents.
With momentum on his side following the historic achievement in Japan, Chiranth will now shift his focus to the next round of the championship, scheduled to take place in Indonesia in August
