New Delhi, Nov 26 : Celebrating 15 years of empowering vulnerable populations, The Hans Foundation (THF) has introduced the Swasthya Cities Initiative, a groundbreaking program aimed at addressing urban challenges in healthcare, education, and livelihoods. The initiative seeks to enhance the lives of over 13 crore urban residents across 20 cities by 2030.

This milestone program reflects THF’s commitment to reducing inequalities and fostering sustainable development. Adopting a holistic approach, it integrates healthcare, education, disability inclusion, and livelihood generation to build inclusive, self-reliant urban ecosystems. Over the past 15 years, THF has positively impacted 40 million lives across 20,000 villages and cities, addressing critical issues like health, education, and disability inclusion.

Under Swasthya Cities, each city will feature 50 Hans Wellness Centres offering mental and physical health support, 10 inclusive schools promoting disability-friendly education, and Mobile Therapy Buses providing doorstep services for persons with disabilities. It also aims to strengthen education through non-formal schools and collaborations with hospitals for paediatric healthcare services.

“This initiative reflects our vision to improve urban life comprehensively through innovative, community-driven approaches,” said Ms. Shweta Rawat, Chairperson, The Hans Foundation. She emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to fostering dignity, opportunity, and resilience in urban communities.

The initiative spans 12 States/UTs, covering cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata, with a projected impact on 2 crore people by 2030. Lt. Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.), Governor of Uttarakhand, praised the initiative, calling THF a “beacon of hope” for millions.
