Visakhapatnam, Nov 28 : The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) plans to leverage corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from local companies to develop parks and stadiums in the city, announced VMRDA Chairperson Pranav Gopal on Wednesday.
Gopal, along with MLA (East) Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu and Metropolitan Commissioner KS Viswanathan, inaugurated new adventure sports facilities, including Zip Liner and Sky-Cycling, on Kailasagiri. Developed in partnership with Sri Sai Moksha Shipping & Logistics, these recreational amenities were built at a cost of ₹2 crore to boost tourism in the region.
Highlighting the role of CSR funds, Gopal emphasized their importance in creating more recreational spaces and enhancing public infrastructure. He also mentioned the construction of a glass bridge, which is expected to be completed by April 2025.
“This initiative aligns with VMRDA’s vision to improve the quality of life in Visakhapatnam by developing accessible, well-maintained public spaces,” Gopal said, adding that the collaboration with corporate entities demonstrates the potential of public-private partnerships in driving regional development.
The newly launched facilities are anticipated to attract significant tourist interest, further positioning Vizag as a hub for recreation and tourism.
