Jaipur, Nov 29 : The much-anticipated Vedanta Pink City Half Marathon (VPCHM) 2024 is set to mark its 9th edition on December 15 in Jaipur. Organized by Vedanta in partnership with Any Body Can Run (ABCR), this year’s event revolves around the impactful theme #RunForZeroHunger, aiming to combat hunger and malnutrition while promoting community engagement and wellness.
The marathon, which expects over 15,000 participants, combines fitness with social change. For every kilometre run, Vedanta will provide nourishment to children from Nand Ghar, a network of modern Anganwadis, and care for animals through its Animal Care Organization (TACO). In 2023, the marathon generated over 1 lakh meals, and this year’s event aims for an even greater impact.
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta, and Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Ltd., expressed, “The Pink City Half Marathon represents the power of community coming together for a cause. It is a celebration of health, unity, and purpose, aligned with Vedanta’s mission to create a hunger-free world.”
Participants can choose from three categories:
– 21 Km Half Marathon (Professional athletes)
– 10 Km Cool Run (Intermediate runners)
– 5 Km Dream Run (Beginners and families)
The race begins at NRI Chauraha, Mahal Road, Jaipur, at 7:00 am. Certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the event promises a world-class experience.
To foster engagement, a BIB Distribution Expo will be held on December 13-14 at CK Birla Hospital Grounds, where participants can collect kits, connect with fellow runners, and learn about the event’s cause. The event will feature unique finisher medals crafted from Zinc sourced from Rajasthan’s historic Zawar Mines, produced by Hindustan Zinc Limited, a Vedanta company.
Vedanta, through its entities Hindustan Zinc Ltd. and Cairn Oil & Gas, continues to contribute significantly to Rajasthan’s economic and social development, with a strong focus on sustainability and community welfare.
