Udhampur, Nov 23 : Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has contributed five garbage collection vehicles and a Truenat machine for TB testing to the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Udhampur as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
At a handover ceremony, Shafat Ahmad Wani, Senior General Manager, Northern Region-II, POWERGRID, presented the equipment to Saloni Rai, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur. The event was attended by dignitaries, including Dr. Mrityunjay, Principal of GMC Udhampur, Rajinder Kumar Digra, CEO of the Municipal Council, and senior officials from POWERGRID and the District Administration.
Valued at approximately ₹55 lakh, the garbage collection vehicles aim to improve waste management in Udhampur, benefiting its population of over five lakh people. Meanwhile, the Truenat machine will significantly enhance TB testing efforts in the district, aligning with the government’s *Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan* to achieve a TB-free India.
“This initiative showcases POWERGRID’s commitment to infrastructure development in sanitation and healthcare through CSR,” a company official stated. POWERGRID continues to focus on improving public health and environmental well-being across rural and urban areas, supporting India’s progress toward a cleaner and healthier future.
