The Gurugram stretch of Delhi-Jaipur National Highway (NH-48) is set for a major green transformation, with the stretch between Sarhaul Border and Rajiv Chowk planned to be developed as an eco-friendly green corridor.
The initiative aims to improve the appearance of one of Gurugram’s busiest entry routes while also helping reduce pollution and strengthen green infrastructure along the highway.
Nestle India to Support Project Through CSR
Multinational company Nestle India has come forward to support the project through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
Nestle India’s Corporate Affairs Director Kunwar Himmat Singh, along with his team, discussed the project’s detailed blueprint with Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh on Tuesday evening.
The initiative represents a collaboration between the government and private sector, with corporate CSR funding being used to support environmental improvement and urban infrastructure.
Green Corridor to Include Plantation and Maintenance
Under the proposed project, the NH-48 stretch from Sarhaul to Rajiv Chowk will undergo extensive greenery and beautification work.
The project will not be limited to planting trees and saplings. The company will also support their long-term maintenance, along with the installation of a modern irrigation system to ensure that the green cover remains healthy.
This approach is expected to create a more sustainable green corridor rather than a one-time plantation project.
Cleaner Gateway to Gurugram
The Sarhaul–Rajiv Chowk stretch is an important gateway to Gurugram and carries heavy traffic every day.
The planned makeover is expected to significantly improve the visual appearance of the highway and create a greener entrance to the Millennium City.
Officials and project stakeholders believe that increasing vegetation along the highway can also contribute towards improving local environmental conditions and reducing the impact of vehicular pollution.
Benefits for Pedestrians and Local Residents
The green corridor is expected to benefit people living and working around NH-48, while also improving the experience of pedestrians and commuters travelling through the area.
The project could provide additional greenery along the highway, improve the overall urban landscape and contribute to a cleaner environment for nearby communities.
