Meta Platforms has officially launched Muse Code, a new AI-powered coding assistant built on its latest Muse Spark 1.2 model, as the company intensifies competition in the rapidly growing AI software development market.
The launch strengthens Meta’s position against AI coding assistants such as OpenAI Codex and Anthropic Claude, as technology companies race to commercialise AI tools capable of writing, reviewing and debugging software.
Built for Complex Software Development
Meta said Muse Code is designed to help developers write code, debug applications and verify outputs while managing complex software projects more efficiently.
Powered by Muse Spark 1.2, the assistant can understand long coding sessions and execute multiple tasks simultaneously through several AI sub-agents working in parallel. This allows developers to complete complicated programming workflows faster while reducing manual effort.
The company added that Muse Spark 1.2 and Muse Code were trained together to ensure seamless collaboration between the AI model and the coding assistant.
Crash Recovery Feature
One of Muse Code’s standout capabilities is its ability to maintain a detailed activity log throughout development.
If a coding session crashes or gets interrupted, the assistant can resume work from where it stopped instead of restarting the entire task, improving productivity for developers working on large-scale software projects.
Pricing and Availability
Meta has launched Muse Code in beta under a pay-as-you-go pricing model.
The standard pricing includes:
- $1.25 per million input tokens
- $4.25 per million output tokens
Developers can access the service immediately through Meta’s AI developer platform.
Built on Muse Spark 1.2
The launch follows the introduction of Muse Spark 1.1 last month, which Meta released for developer testing.
According to the company, Muse Spark 1.1 helped generate and evaluate difficult coding challenges that were later used to train Muse Spark 1.2, significantly improving its ability to follow complex programming instructions and solve advanced coding tasks.
Meta Expands AI Monetisation Strategy
Muse Code forms part of Meta’s broader strategy to monetise its growing portfolio of AI products beyond social media.
The company is increasingly investing in developer-focused AI tools, enterprise software and autonomous AI agents, positioning itself alongside OpenAI, Anthropic and Google in the expanding market for AI-powered productivity solutions.
