Lucknow, 17 June: Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
India entered the match with a 1-0 lead in the series and handed an ODI debut to fast bowler Prince Yadav, who earned his opportunity after an impressive IPL 2026 campaign with Lucknow Super Giants.
The hosts made a few changes to their playing XI, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav returning to the side. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy missed the match due to soreness in his left thigh.
Afghanistan also introduced two debutants, Darwish Rasooli and Bilal Sami, as they looked to level the series.
India’s batting lineup features Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, while the bowling attack includes Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and debutant Prince Yadav.
Afghanistan will rely on experienced players Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah and star spinner Rashid Khan to keep the series alive.
With India aiming to seal the series and Afghanistan seeking a comeback, an exciting contest is expected in Lucknow.
