The Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC), in collaboration with the Hyderabad Traffic Police, has inducted 30 new traffic patrol motorcycles under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)-supported initiative aimed at improving traffic management, reducing congestion and enhancing road safety across the city.
The new fleet was flagged off by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar, who also honoured representatives of 45 corporate organisations that have supported the Traffic Marshals Programme through their CSR contributions.
According to the police, the newly inducted 30 Avenger patrol bikes have been procured through CSR funding worth approximately ₹1.60 crore, increasing Hyderabad’s total fleet of traffic patrol motorcycles to 80. The mobile patrol units will be strategically deployed based on real-time CCTV monitoring, enabling faster responses to traffic congestion, road accidents, vehicle breakdowns and other emergencies on major roads.
The patrol teams will also play an important role in clearing illegally parked vehicles and removing other obstructions that frequently disrupt traffic flow across the city. By improving response times, authorities aim to minimise congestion and ensure smoother movement of vehicles during peak hours.
Highlighting the growing transportation challenges in Hyderabad, Commissioner Sajjanar said the city is currently home to nearly 95 lakh registered vehicles, with an additional 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles being added every day. This rapid increase in vehicle numbers has placed considerable pressure on the existing traffic management system, making technological support and additional mobility resources increasingly essential.
He also noted that the Hyderabad Traffic Police have deployed 120 traffic marshals over the past six months to assist personnel in managing busy intersections and ensuring pedestrian safety. The marshals have been particularly helpful in assisting students, senior citizens and patients while crossing heavily congested roads.
Commissioner Sajjanar further highlighted the expansion of the women-led ‘Spandana’ emergency response vehicle initiative, which has strengthened emergency assistance services across the city. He encouraged more corporate organisations to partner with the Hyderabad City Security Council through their CSR programmes to support future traffic management and public safety initiatives.
The initiative reflects the growing role of Corporate Social Responsibility in strengthening urban infrastructure and public services. By supporting modern traffic management resources, companies are contributing to safer roads, improved mobility and enhanced emergency response capabilities for millions of commuters in Hyderabad.
