HCLTech has secured a $1.14 billion contract from a major European company to deliver an AI-driven digital transformation programme, marking one of the Indian IT giant’s largest new business wins in recent years.
The agreement, announced on Friday, will see HCLTech establish and manage an AI-powered operating model to modernise the client’s global digital workplace and enterprise network infrastructure. The company said the engagement will leverage artificial intelligence to enhance operational efficiency, automate IT services and improve enterprise-wide digital experiences.
The contract has an initial tenure of four-and-a-half years, with an option to extend it for an additional five years. HCLTech did not disclose the identity of the European client or the industry it operates in.
Importantly, the company clarified that the agreement represents entirely new business, rather than an expansion or renewal of an existing client relationship, highlighting its ability to win large-scale transformation projects in the highly competitive global IT services market.
The announcement was positively received by investors, with HCLTech shares rising nearly 4.6% at market opening. The news also lifted sentiment across the technology sector, helping the Nifty IT index gain around 2.5% during early trading.
The deal reinforces the growing demand for AI-led enterprise transformation as organisations worldwide accelerate investments in digital workplaces, cloud infrastructure and intelligent automation. Indian IT companies have increasingly focused on artificial intelligence and automation services to drive growth amid cautious spending in traditional technology outsourcing.
HCLTech is scheduled to announce its first-quarter FY2027 financial results on July 13. The company has projected annual revenue growth of 1% to 4% for the current financial year, with large AI and digital transformation contracts expected to support future business momentum.
The latest contract further strengthens HCLTech’s position as a leading global technology services provider and reflects the increasing role of AI-driven solutions in large-scale enterprise modernisation projects.
