New Delhi, June 23: Gold prices witnessed a marginal increase in early trading on Tuesday, while silver prices moved lower amid mixed global market signals and investor caution over interest rate expectations.
The price of 24-carat gold rose by ₹10, taking the rate of 10 grams to ₹1,46,520. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold also gained ₹10, with 10 grams trading at ₹1,34,310 in major Indian markets.
Across key cities, 24-carat gold prices remained largely stable, with Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad reporting rates of ₹1,46,520 per 10 grams. In Delhi, the precious metal was priced slightly higher at ₹1,46,670, while Chennai recorded the highest rate among major metros at ₹1,48,360.
Similarly, 22-carat gold prices stood at ₹1,34,310 per 10 grams in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. In Delhi, the same quantity was priced at ₹1,34,460, while Chennai reported a rate of ₹1,35,990.
In contrast, silver prices declined by ₹100 per kilogram. The white metal was trading at ₹2,49,900 per kilogram in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, while Chennai continued to command a premium price of ₹2,54,900 per kilogram.
In the international market, gold prices remained largely steady as investors monitored geopolitical developments and evolving expectations regarding U.S. monetary policy. Market participants are closely watching signals from the U.S. Federal Reserve, as interest rate decisions continue to influence demand for precious metals globally.
Analysts note that gold remains supported by ongoing economic uncertainties and central bank buying, while short-term price movements are likely to remain sensitive to global interest rate expectations, inflation trends, and geopolitical developments.
