Jaipur, May 24: Community Radio Connect FM 107.8, an initiative of the S M Sehgal Foundation, has been awarded first prize in the “Children and Youth-led Climate Solutions” category for its outstanding climate-focused programming. The recognition was given at the state-level conference on “Community Radio as a Changemaker for Climate Justice”, held on May 21–22, 2025, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The event was jointly organized by the Alliance for Community Radio, Rajasthan, and UNICEF.
Priya Chaudhary, Assistant Program Lead, accepted the award on behalf of the station.
In his address at the event, Shri Kailash Chand Paharia, Member Secretary of the Rajasthan Youth Board, Government of Rajasthan, underscored the vital role youth play in environmental conservation and climate action. The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from ICDS, community radio networks, and UNICEF.
Pooja Oberoi Murada, Principal Lead at S M Sehgal Foundation, emphasized the importance of environmental education, particularly for rural populations most affected by climate change. “This award is a tribute to the strength and dedication of the communities that have collaborated with Connect FM for over 13 years across parts of Rajasthan and Haryana,” she said. “Our participatory model ensures that climate communication is not only inclusive but also led by the voices of the community. Listeners become co-creators in building awareness and resilience.”
