Ahmedabad, June 28: In a noteworthy step toward rural water sustainability, CLEAR Premium Water, in collaboration with YFLO and the Dreams Foundation, has successfully completed the restoration of Devalali Pond in Ramad village, located in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district. The initiative concluded in early June and is expected to bring significant benefits with the onset of the monsoon.

The 10-day restoration effort involved deepening the pond by an additional 3 to 4 feet, significantly expanding its storage capacity to over 2.64 crore litres. This expanded capacity is projected to reduce reliance on groundwater and directly support around 70 farming families that depend on the pond for both irrigation and domestic use.

Years of silt build-up and a lack of maintenance had diminished the pond’s utility. With erratic rainfall patterns increasingly driven by climate change, this timely intervention showcases a scalable, community-driven model of water resource management that is both cost-effective and highly replicable.

“Water scarcity isn’t just a rural issue—it’s a systemic risk to our economy and collective resilience,”said Nayan Shah, Founder & CEO of CLEAR Premium Water. “This pond restoration is more than infrastructure; it’s a strategic investment in water security, agricultural livelihoods, and community empowerment. True sustainability is about enabling people to live consciously and conserve efficiently.”

The pond is anticipated to fill fully during the current monsoon season, ensuring year-round water availability for local needs. Beyond agricultural support, the initiative has sparked community participation and ownership, reinforcing the role of local stakeholders in climate adaptation.

Through the combined efforts of CLEAR Premium Water, YFLO, the Dreams Foundation, and the residents of Ramad, the Devalali Pond restoration stands as a model for grassroots water conservation — one that could serve as a blueprint for similar efforts across rural India.
