The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India and the Gates Foundation, organised a high-level CSR Conclave in New Delhi to promote strategic partnerships for the successful implementation of the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana. The conclave focused on leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to enhance farmer prosperity and accelerate sustainable agricultural development across the country.
The event brought together senior government officials, corporate CSR leaders, financial institutions, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), development partners and industry stakeholders to explore collaborative opportunities under the flagship agricultural scheme. Discussions centred on creating stronger partnerships between the government and the private sector to improve farmers’ livelihoods and strengthen rural economies.
Addressing the conclave, Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, said the government is committed to promoting greater convergence between public welfare schemes and private sector participation to achieve measurable outcomes at scale. He stressed that corporate involvement should extend beyond financial CSR contributions and include active support through manpower, technology, capacity building and field-level implementation.
He encouraged companies to work closely with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), strengthen market linkages, educate farmers on modern agricultural practices and promote climate-resilient farming techniques to improve productivity and long-term sustainability.
The Secretary also highlighted the important role of Lead Banks in expanding financial inclusion across rural India. He called for dedicated campaigns to improve the implementation of flagship schemes such as the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), ensuring greater access to institutional credit and crop insurance for farmers.
The Ministry said the conclave reflects the government’s broader vision of encouraging public-private partnerships to strengthen India’s agricultural ecosystem, improve rural livelihoods and promote sustainable farming practices through innovation, financial inclusion and community participation.
The discussions concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to enhance collaboration, mobilise CSR resources and support the effective implementation of the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, helping farmers become more resilient, productive and economically empowered.
