The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India and the Gates Foundation, organised a high-level CSR Conclave in New Delhi to explore how corporate partnerships can strengthen the implementation of the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and improve farmer livelihoods.
The conclave, themed “Leveraging PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana for Farmer Prosperity”, brought together senior government officials, corporate CSR leaders, financial institutions, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and development partners to discuss collaborative strategies for accelerating agricultural development.
Focus on Public-Private Collaboration
Addressing the conclave, Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, said the government is committed to creating stronger convergence between public welfare schemes and private sector participation to deliver measurable outcomes for farmers.
He emphasised that corporate participation should go beyond financial CSR contributions and include active involvement through:
- Capacity building and manpower support
- Strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs)
- Farmer awareness and education programmes
- Promotion of climate-resilient agricultural practices
- Improved market and institutional linkages
Role of Financial Institutions
The Secretary also highlighted the importance of Lead Banks in expanding financial inclusion and ensuring effective implementation of flagship agricultural schemes.
He called for focused campaigns to increase the reach of initiatives such as:
- Kisan Credit Card (KCC)
- Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
particularly in districts covered under the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
Strengthening Farmer Prosperity
The conclave served as a platform to encourage greater collaboration between government, corporates, financial institutions and development organisations to improve agricultural productivity, promote sustainable farming practices and enhance farmers’ incomes.
The Ministry said such partnerships will play an important role in scaling the impact of the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and supporting long-term rural development.
