Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has reported a strong start to FY27, with its energy sales rising 30% year-on-year in the first quarter, driven by a significant expansion in its renewable energy portfolio. The company sold 13,657 million units of clean electricity during the quarter, supported by higher operational capacity and improved generation efficiency.
AGEL’s operational renewable energy capacity increased 27% year-on-year to 20,142 MW, following the addition of 4,327 MW of new greenfield renewable projects over the past year. During the April-June quarter alone, the company commissioned 848 MW of fresh renewable energy capacity, further strengthening its position as one of India’s largest renewable energy producers.
The company also expanded its energy storage infrastructure by operationalising 1,972 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity at its flagship Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat. This has increased the total installed BESS capacity at Khavda to 3,551 MWh, enhancing grid stability and enabling better integration of renewable power into the electricity network.
Operational performance remained robust across all renewable energy segments. The company’s solar portfolio recorded a Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 25.3% with an impressive 99.5% plant availability. Its wind portfolio achieved a CUF of 44.4% with 95.3% plant availability, while the hybrid portfolio delivered a 49% CUF and 98.8% availability, reflecting efficient plant operations across technologies.
Adani Green stated that its power generation business has maintained a 43% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), underlining the rapid expansion of its renewable energy assets over recent years.
With more than 20 GW of operational renewable capacity, the company estimates it can now supply clean electricity to over nine million households while preventing nearly 37 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) emissions every year, supporting India’s climate and energy transition goals.
The company had earlier operationalised an additional 50 MW solar power project at Khavda in Gujarat, helping it surpass the important 20 GW operational capacity milestone.
Financially, Adani Green delivered a strong quarterly performance, reporting a 72.6% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹397 crore, while revenue grew 14% to ₹3,502 crore. EBITDA rose 20% to ₹2,882 crore, with the EBITDA margin improving to 82.3%, highlighting stronger operational efficiency and profitability.
Following the announcement, Adani Green Energy’s shares closed 3.24% higher at ₹1,534.80 on the NSE, reflecting positive investor sentiment towards the company’s continued renewable energy expansion.
