The Adani Foundation has partnered with the Andhra Pradesh Government’s flagship Public-Private-People Partnership (P4) Initiative as a ‘Margdarshi’ (guide and enabling partner) to improve the livelihoods of economically vulnerable families in Kuppam Mandal of Chittoor district. The collaboration marks another significant step towards promoting sustainable rural development by combining government support with corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The programme, titled “Transforming Lives Together: A P4 Model for Holistic Progress of Bangaru Kutumbams in Kuppam Mandal,” will cover all 29 Gram Panchayats and urban clusters across the mandal. The initiative is designed to help Bangaru Kutumbams—economically disadvantaged households—achieve long-term financial stability through livelihood generation, skill development, financial literacy, and improved access to government welfare schemes. The programme is being implemented by the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Abhivruddhi Society (APMAS).
Under the initiative, beneficiary families will receive livelihood assets tailored to their existing skills and local market demand. The support includes sewing machines, portable welding kits, embroidery machines, livestock, kirana stores, and other micro-enterprise resources, enabling families to establish or expand income-generating activities. By focusing on practical livelihood opportunities rather than one-time assistance, the programme aims to create sustainable sources of income for rural households.
A key feature of the initiative is the appointment of trained community mentors known as Bangaru Mitras, who will work closely with participating families. These mentors will help beneficiaries prepare business plans, improve financial literacy, strengthen entrepreneurial skills, and connect them with various government welfare schemes. This personalised handholding is expected to ensure that families receive continuous guidance while building self-reliant livelihoods.
The initiative was formally launched during Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to his Assembly constituency, Kuppam, where he distributed sewing machines, portable welding kits and embroidery machines to selected beneficiary families. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister described the programme as a strong example of the state’s P4 Zero Poverty Initiative, which aims to eliminate poverty through collaborative efforts involving the government, private sector and local communities.
Naidu praised the Adani Foundation for supporting inclusive development and strengthening leadership within rural communities. He said the partnership demonstrates how corporate participation can accelerate social transformation by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for underprivileged families while complementing government welfare programmes.
Adani Foundation Chairperson Dr. Priti Adani highlighted that lasting social progress begins with empowering individual households. She stated that providing families with the right opportunities, skills and support enables them to become self-reliant and build a better future for future generations. According to her, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening rural livelihoods and promoting inclusive growth through long-term community development.
The collaboration further reinforces the growing role of CSR initiatives in supporting state-led development programmes across India. By integrating livelihood support, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and welfare access under one platform, the P4 initiative seeks to create a replicable model for poverty reduction and rural economic empowerment.
As Andhra Pradesh continues to expand its P4 Zero Poverty Initiative, partnerships such as this are expected to play an increasingly important role in bridging development gaps and ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the tools and opportunities needed to achieve long-term economic independence.
