The Adani Foundation has expanded its flood relief operations in Assam, reaching nearly 8,000 families across the flood-affected districts of Sivasagar and Dhemaji. The initiative follows Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani’s ₹11 crore contribution to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in the state.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledged the contribution, stating that the support would strengthen ongoing relief measures and help thousands of families affected by the devastating floods.
Relief Drive Across Upper Assam
The flood relief programme is being implemented by the Adani Foundation, in collaboration with Adani Smart Meter and Guwahati International Airport Limited (GIAL), a subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL).
Relief operations are focused on:
- Nazira Sub-Division, Sivasagar district
- Silapathar, Dhemaji district
The Foundation is distributing relief kits containing essential food items, medicines, hygiene products and sanitation supplies to support families during the initial recovery phase.
Support Reaches Remote Villages
The relief initiative covers 14 villages in Nazira, including Gurmur Miri (Nepali Basti), Santak Grant, Baligaon, Rojapool Duwarah Gaon, Bamunpukhuri, Gohain Gaon (Komol Sapori), Hulang Katoni, Hulang Kalita, Bengmora Konwar Gaon, Bailung Gaon, Miri Gaon, Ougurijan and Bihubor Grant, along with flood-affected areas of Silapathar.
Teams are working to ensure that assistance reaches remote and difficult-to-access communities impacted by the floods.
Focus on Long-Term Recovery
The Adani Foundation stated that emergency relief is only the first phase of its response and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting long-term rehabilitation and community resilience as affected families rebuild their lives.
The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s broader efforts to assist disaster-affected communities through humanitarian relief, rehabilitation and sustainable development programmes.
