Infineon Technologies AG is set to acquire Bengaluru-based semiconductor startup C2i Semiconductors, strengthening its capabilities in power management and power delivery solutions for AI data centres. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of calendar year 2026.
C2i Semiconductors specialises in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages designed for the demanding power requirements of modern AI infrastructure. The acquisition comes at a time when increasingly powerful AI processors are creating new challenges for data-centre operators, particularly around how electricity can be delivered efficiently and reliably to high-performance chips.
From the grid to the processor
C2i takes a system-level approach to what is commonly known as “grid-to-core” power delivery—the complete journey of electricity from the electrical grid through the data-centre power infrastructure and ultimately down to the processor core.
This is becoming increasingly important as AI accelerators and processors consume more power and their workloads fluctuate rapidly. AI systems can create sudden changes in power demand depending on the workload being processed, requiring power-delivery infrastructure that can respond quickly while maintaining efficiency and stability.
C2i’s technology combines traditional power semiconductors with digital controls and software algorithms, allowing power conversion and regulation to be adjusted dynamically according to changing requirements.

The companies also expect the combined technologies to contribute to the development of future substrate-integrated voltage regulators, which could bring power regulation even closer to high-performance processors.
Bengaluru to become a digital power centre
The acquisition also highlights the growing importance of India—particularly Bengaluru—in the global semiconductor and AI infrastructure ecosystem.
Infineon said the transaction will create a new centre of excellence for digital power technologies in India, bringing C2i’s engineering expertise into its global technology organisation.
C2i was founded with the goal of making power-delivery systems more intelligent and addressing the growing energy requirements of AI infrastructure.
Its integration into Infineon will give the Bengaluru team access to Infineon’s semiconductor technologies, manufacturing capabilities and global customer network, potentially allowing C2i’s technology to be developed and commercialised on a much larger scale.
A strategic move as AI power demand rises
