Jaipur, 10 July: Rajasthan has become the first Indian state to sign a Framework for Action on Advanced Clean Energy and Sustainable Development with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), marking a significant step in the state’s clean energy transition. The agreement was signed by Energy Secretary Aarti Dogra and ISA Director General Ashish Khanna in the presence of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
The partnership aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap for expanding solar power generation, strengthening transmission and distribution networks, modernising the electricity grid, promoting energy storage, improving energy efficiency, and advancing policy reforms. It will also focus on institutional capacity building and demand-side energy management to support Rajasthan’s long-term renewable energy ambitions.
As part of the collaboration, Rajasthan will prepare a 2030–35 Energy Transition Plan to guide the state’s shift towards a sustainable and resilient energy system. The agreement also includes the adoption of AI-enabled digital technologies, including a Digital Twin pilot project in Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam, which is expected to improve demand forecasting, network planning, and renewable energy integration.
The initiative supports Rajasthan’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy, which targets the development of 125 GW of clean energy capacity. The state has already made significant progress under the PM-KUSUM Scheme, with more than 4 GW of solar power currently supplying daytime electricity to farmers across 26 districts.
Reviewing the state’s renewable energy initiatives, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directed officials to accelerate the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and instructed the Chief Secretary to closely monitor its progress. He also reviewed key projects under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and the Green Energy Corridor Programme.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, attended the meeting, while Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar and officials from the Jodhpur and Ajmer power distribution companies participated through video conferencing.
The agreement is expected to strengthen Rajasthan’s position as India’s leading renewable energy state while serving as a model for other states seeking to accelerate their clean energy transition through international collaboration.
