Jaipur, Nov 22 :  The Regional Workshop on Rural Livelihoods is held on November 21–22, 2024, in Rajasthan, focusing on strategies and interventions to develop “Lakhpati Didis” across states and union territories such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, and others.  

Day 1

Begins with welcome and inaugural addresses by dignitaries including Deepa Ranjan, Mission Director, SRLM, and Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, MoRD. The sessions explore strengthening value chain interventions, sub-sector approaches like agriculture and fisheries, and enhancing market linkages to boost income opportunities.  

On Strengthening Value Chain Interventions :

Sanjay Sharma, ED,Manjar Foundation highlights the importance of empowering women across various nodes of the value chain—from production and procurement to processing and marketing. He addresses critical areas such as deficit financing, skilled human resource requirements, and the role of Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) as platforms for building ecosystems to support women-led startups.  

– Mr. Rajesh Jain emphasizes the need to build capacity for women enterprises, focusing on quality control measures and appropriate pricing strategies for their products.  

– Ms. Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, concludes the session by stressing the need for policy changes, particularly in deficit financing and the development of markets for SHG women’s products.

Day 2 of the Regional Workshop on Rural Livelihoods

Focuses on empowering Community Resource Persons (CRPs), with representatives from various states sharing their experiences and insights. A dedicated session on Convergence and Partnerships explores opportunities for collaboration with ministries and agencies to amplify rural development efforts. Additionally, the workshop reviews the implementation status of MKSP (Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana) and SVEP (Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme) across participating regions, assessing progress and identifying areas for improvement.  

Under the theme Strategies and Interventions for Making of Lakhpati Didis, the session features the following speakers:  

1. Kranti Johri, Master Trainer – Uttar Pradesh  

2. Vankar Savitaben Dahyabhai, Krishi Sakhi – Gujarat  

3. Madhuri Gajanan, Matsya Sakhi – Maharashtra  

4. Rubi Siddiqui, Pashu Udhyam Sakhi – Rajasthan  

5. Swara Shetye, CRP-EP – Goa  

6. Surma Gehlot, BDSP – Rajasthan  

7. Safiya Bano, CRP-EP – Rajasthan  

The session is moderated by Naresh Nain, NRP, Livelihood, Rajasthan, and highlights practical strategies for scaling rural livelihoods.  

The workshop’s final session focuses on MKSP & SVEP Implementation – Status & Review, where participants assess the progress and challenges of these programs across the participating regions. This is followed by a Valedictory Session, featuring reflections on the workshop outcomes, closing remarks, and a vote of thanks. The event emphasizes collaboration, skill development, and innovation, solidifying its role as a crucial initiative for sustainable community development in India.
