Pune, March 24: The International WeLoveU Foundation, a global welfare organization led by Chairwoman Zahng Gil-Jah, successfully hosted the 779th One-Two Blood Drive at BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital in Pune. The event aimed to address the summer blood shortage, bringing together approximately 200 volunteers who participated in this noble cause.

A WeLoveU representative expressed gratitude, stating, “We are delighted to contribute to saving lives through blood donation. Our mission is to raise awareness and encourage greater participation within the community.”

During the drive, 141 donors collectively contributed 49,350ml of blood. The hospital provided medical assistance and refreshments to support the donors. Dr. Yelappa Jadhav, Medical Superintendent of BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, praised the well-organized effort and the enthusiastic participation of donors.

Dr. Leena Nakate, Deputy Dean and Head of the Pathology Department, encouraged more female participants to engage in future drives, while Dr. Varsha Bhatia, In-charge of the Blood Centre, commended the volunteers’ dedication. Expressing support, Vilas Parmar, Director of Parmar Properties, and Bapusaheb Pathare, MLA of Vadgaon Sheri, applauded WeLoveU’s global humanitarian initiatives and pledged future collaboration.

A Global Life-Saving Movement

The One-Two Blood Drive, launched in Korea in 2004, has expanded worldwide, operating in 64 countries with over 117,100 participants and 52,200 blood donors to date. Considering that a single donation can save three lives, this initiative has potentially saved 156,800 lives globally.

In India, WeLoveU has hosted over 60 blood donation events, with more than 15,000 participants and 4,000 donors. Simultaneous drives were conducted in Bangalore, Amritsar, and Tiruchirappalli, reinforcing WeLoveU’s commitment to community welfare.

Beyond Blood Donation: WeLoveU’s Commitment to Welfare

WeLoveU actively contributes to environmental conservation, health, and education. Through its Clean World Movement, the foundation has undertaken cleanliness drives at Juhu Beach (Mumbai), Mula-Mutha River (Pune), Nashik Road Railway Station, Godavari River (Rajahmundry), and Durgam Cheruvu Lake (Hyderabad).

Additionally, the foundation has installed water purification facilities at Shivarkar Government Hospital (Pune), donated food supplies to nursing homes, and built public sanitation facilities in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. It has also improved educational infrastructure by providing school supplies, uniforms, and essential amenities to schools in Solapur, Pune, Hyderabad, and Warangal.

Recognized for its humanitarian efforts, WeLoveU has received numerous honors, including the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award, the Republic of Korea Medal of Honor, and the Cambodian King’s Medal of Honor.

Through its 4,500+ welfare initiatives, WeLoveU continues to champion emergency relief, poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability, and global peace.
