NEW DELHI: The government has requested NGOs to increase awareness of senior citizens’ rights through banners and displays for the International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) celebrations on October 1.
This initiative, part of the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY), aims to honor senior citizens and encourage their social engagement, according to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Under the Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSRC) of the AVYAY scheme, each NGO has been allocated funds to organize activities that celebrate and engage the elderly.
