New Delhi, Aprail 10: The Art of Living Social Projects has been awarded the prestigious Best Water NGO – Rainwater Harvesting title at the Water Digest World Water Awards 2024–25, held on March 31, 2025, at ITC Maurya, New Delhi. Organised by Advance Water Digest Pvt. Ltd., the awards recognise outstanding contributions in the field of water conservation.
Inspired by the vision of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for a water-positive India, this award celebrates the relentless efforts of thousands of volunteers, experts, and communities across the country who are working to reshape India’s water future—one recharge structure at a time.
Reviving Rivers, Restoring Hope
Since 2013, The Art of Living’s water conservation initiative has revived over 70 rivers and streams across 8 states, rejuvenating landscapes once left barren. The initiative has quietly but effectively tackled water scarcity through a combination of science, community action, and government collaboration.
With support from schemes like MGNREGA, partnerships with corporates through CSR, and key MoUs, the organisation’s approach is a living example of how coordinated efforts between citizens and systems can bring about large-scale transformation.
Powered by People
What sets The Art of Living’s model apart is its bottom-up approach—change is led by communities themselves. Through Youth Leadership Training Programs (YLTP) and Water Literacy Awareness Programs, the organisation empowers rural youth, farmers, and citizens to become water stewards, ensuring the sustainability of every intervention.
Water Security, Livelihoods, and Resilience
-
More Water, Better Harvests: Restored water bodies mean increased soil moisture, thriving agriculture, and food security.
-
Jobs Where They’re Needed: Water conservation creates local employment through programs like MGNREGA, curbing migration to cities.
-
Stronger, Resilient Communities: With better water access and steady incomes, families are more empowered, healthier, and engaged in environmental stewardship.
A Model for Sustainable Development
The Art of Living Social Projects is not just conserving water—it’s transforming lives. Its water-positive model continues to gain recognition for demonstrating how community-led, scalable solutions can restore ecosystems, boost rural livelihoods, and build climate resilience
