Thane : In a lively celebration of Maharashtra’s cultural heritage, Kalpataru, a prominent real estate developer, supported Killekars’ commitment to preserving the state’s historic forts. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Kalpataru organized a series of workshops to raise awareness about the Forts of Maharashtra, culminating in the ‘2024 Mud Fort Making Competition’ specifically for students, held at Korum Mall, Thane. This CSR project aimed to enhance heritage awareness, engage the community, and promote environmental responsibility.
The competition brought together students from local schools and residents of housing societies as part of the Thane Smart City initiative, encouraging them to participate in the traditional craft of mud fort-making. This activity aimed to revive a time-honored art form that has diminished with the advent of technology and digital entertainment. Through hands-on involvement, the project sought to spark interest in Maharashtra’s heritage and inspire younger generations to embrace local traditions.
A detailed replica of the iconic Raigad Fort—the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maratha Empire—was constructed within the mall, attracting considerable public interest while educating visitors about the preservation and conservation of forts in Maharashtra. This installation honored the 351st anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation, providing a meaningful way for attendees to connect with Maharashtra’s rich history.
“Through this initiative, we aim to rekindle interest in Maharashtra’s rich heritage and create a meaningful connection with our roots, while raising awareness about safeguarding our monuments for future generations. We believe in building more than just spaces—we build legacies, and this activity aligns with our commitment to safe, timeless, and sustainable communities,” stated Anagha Poojari, CSR Head at Kalpataru Limited.
The event also emphasized environmental responsibility, focusing on waste management, cleanliness, and sustainability. By engaging children and local residents in creative activities, it encouraged participants to adopt sustainable practices and cultivate environmental awareness.
The partnership between Kalpataru and Killekars reflects their shared dedication to preserving the cultural significance of Maharashtra’s forts. This initiative exemplifies Kalpataru’s philosophy of giving back to the community while keeping traditions alive, providing opportunities for people to come together and celebrate in meaningful ways.
The enthusiastic response from participants at Korum Mall underscored the impact of community-driven initiatives in fostering connections and preserving heritage, ensuring that Maharashtra’s cultural traditions remain vibrant and relevant for future generations.
