Jamshedpur : Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) and the Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab (DTE&IT), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting technical education and enhancing employability skills for students at ITI Gill Road and ITI Samrala. The signing ceremony took place in Chandigarh today, with senior representatives from both organizations in attendance, marking an important milestone in empowering the region’s youth.
The MoU was signed by Harminder Singh, Principal of Government ITI Samrala; Baljinder Singh, Principal of Government ITI Gill Road; and Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer of Tata Steel Foundation. The event was honored by the presence of Shri Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Minister of Industry and Commerce and Investment Promotion, Government of Punjab, along with Chanakya Chaudhary, Director of Tata Steel Foundation, and Vivek Pratap Singh IAS, Principal Secretary of the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training.
During the event, Chanakya Chaudhary remarked, “We are pleased to fulfill our commitments and collaborate with the Punjab government on initiatives for youth development. This ITI partnership reinforces our dedication to implementing need-based initiatives tailored to community discussions. Our goal is to create capacity for over 10,000 individuals across all industrial training centers, model career centers, and multi-skill centers in Punjab, Jharkhand, and Odisha.”
This collaboration aims to enhance the quality of technical education and equip students with relevant industry skills to meet the evolving job market demands. Under the MoU, TSF will work with Schneider Electric to establish advanced Electrical Labs at ITI Samrala and ITI Gill Road in Ludhiana. Additionally, TSF will conduct employability skill classes, ensuring students receive top-notch training to excel in the competitive workforce.
With extensive experience in technical and vocational training, Tata Steel Foundation has led skill development initiatives, particularly in underserved regions like Jharkhand and Odisha. Its programs focus on fostering self-reliance and economic independence for young men and women, thereby enhancing employability across various industries.
The Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab, has long been committed to providing vocational training to address the growing demand for skilled workers in the industry. This partnership with TSF will further improve the quality of education at ITI Samrala and ITI Gill Road, ensuring students receive cutting-edge training in the Electrical trade and related fields.
