New Delhi : Sulabh International has continued its tradition of celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday since 2014. In alignment with PM Modi’s visionary leadership and commitment to national progress, Sulabh International organized a series of special cleanliness initiatives this year to honor his 74th birthday, aiming to pay tribute to his call for a cleaner India.

As part of the celebrations, the ‘Swachh Himalayas Abhiyan’ (Clean Himalayas Campaign) was launched in partnership with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. This initiative will engage local communities, environmental groups, and volunteers to work together in reducing pollution and protecting this crucial ecosystem.

During the event, Kumar Dilip, President of Sulabh International, stated, “Our dedication to celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday reflects our shared values of service, development, and national pride. The ‘Swabhav Swachhta Sanskar Swachhta’ (4S) campaign is truly inspiring, and we aim to create a significant impact on the lives of millions across the nation through these efforts.”

Kumar also added, “Our collaboration with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation aligns with PM Modi’s vision of environmental protection and responsible tourism. Preserving the natural beauty of the Himalayas not only honors our nation but is essential for combating environmental degradation.”

On PM Modi’s 74th birthday, students from Sulabh-led school cleanliness clubs nationwide sent him birthday wishes. A massive 74-kilogram laddu was unveiled at the Sulabh campus and distributed to all attendees, including special guests. An 18-foot-long fabric displaying messages from schoolchildren across 17 states was also showcased.

Union Minister Chaudhary Jayant Singh attended the cleanliness campaign organized by Sulabh International at Kaushal Bhawan and interacted with attendees. He emphasized the mantra ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ (Cleanliness is Service), urging everyone to promote cleanliness awareness and foster positive change through community dialogue.

As Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and MoS for Education, Jayant Singh encouraged students from various colleges at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi to engage with the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign. He noted that cleanliness transcends physical hygiene, representing deeper values that should be integrated into daily life.

The theme ‘Swabhav Swachhta-Sanskar Swachhta’ highlights the importance of behavioral change within this initiative. A special newsletter titled ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ was launched during the event by Minister Jayant Singh.

The program also featured an exhibition showcasing students’ artworks on cleanliness and waste management, as well as street plays performed by students from various colleges under the Sulabh Swachhta Club.

This event was organized in collaboration with Sulabh International, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to promote cleanliness and behavioral change across India. The ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign, which began on September 17, will culminate on October 2, celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring vision for a clean India.
