Davos, Jan 24 : Spices brand Suhana Masala, in collaboration with the Ecofactory Foundation, has announced plans to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for spice production in Telangana. The facility, to be located near Suhana’s existing plant in Sangareddy, aims to transform spice farming by equipping farmers with skills and knowledge to produce goods that meet global standards, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday.
The announcement followed a meeting between Suhana Masala Director Anand Chordia and Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos.
Over the next 2-3 years, the CoE aims to train 25,000–30,000 farmers, focusing on enhancing farming techniques and improving the quality of spices. This initiative seeks to boost farmers’ incomes by enabling them to meet international quality benchmarks, thereby improving their market access.
The Centre of Excellence will collaborate with industry partners to introduce advanced technologies, innovative research, and best practices to the farming community. Suhana’s chili processing unit in Sangareddy—one of the largest in the country—will serve as a key hub for this transformative project.
“This initiative represents a major step forward for the spice industry. Our mission goes beyond improving spice quality; it’s about empowering farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive. By combining sustainability with innovation, we are committed to positioning Telangana as a global leader in high-quality spice production,” said the CEO of Suhana Masala.
The project is also expected to contribute significantly to the economic development of Telangana by improving livelihoods and enhancing agricultural productivity.
