New Delhi: Smile Foundation has been honored with the “Best Organisation of the Year in CSR Implementation” award at the Bharat CSR & Sustainability Conclave for its iTrain on Wheels program. Since 2021, Berger Paints India Ltd. has partnered with Smile Foundation to enhance the earning and entrepreneurial potential of paint applicators throughout India.
The iTrain on Wheels program is notable for its comprehensive approach to training and empowering paint applicators. It not only focuses on technical skills development but also emphasizes soft skills training, recognizing the critical role of effective communication and interpersonal skills in the paints industry. Additionally, the program prioritizes entrepreneurial skills, equipping participants with the business knowledge necessary to thrive as independent contractors or business owners.
Since its inception, the iTrain on Wheels program has trained over 263,700 paint applicators across the country at no cost. Currently, 23 mobile iTrain units are operational in 25 states and 3 Union Territories, covering 443 districts, including 51 aspirational districts.
Each iTrain on Wheels mobile unit is equipped with audio-visual tools, practical training booths, and mechanized equipment to demonstrate painting processes in a more efficient, quicker, cleaner, and safer manner. The training staff consists of certified and experienced trainers with relevant industry knowledge and technical expertise.
The courses provide both theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as training in entrepreneurial and soft skills. Trainees learn new techniques alongside the use of mechanized equipment.
Special modules on wood polishing, decorative painting, and body language are also included in the training.
