Jaunpur, Dec 15 : Members of the Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF) staged a protest on Saturday in response to the tragic suicide of Atul Subhash. Protesters expressed their grief and frustration, highlighting what they called a failure of the judicial system that contributed to Subhash’s untimely death.

“We are here to pay homage to Atul Subhash, an IT professional who was driven to take his own life due to judicial apathy. Society needs to recognize this injustice, and we urge Parliament to take up the issue and implement judicial reforms,” stated one of the protesters.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru Police announced the formation of two special teams to investigate the case. Subhash, who died by suicide earlier this week, had alleged harassment by his in-laws in a 24-page suicide note. The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by his brother. “We have registered a case and are actively collecting evidence to ensure justice is served,” said Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda.

In light of this case, advocate Vishal Tiwari has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking reforms to prevent the misuse of domestic violence laws. The petition references the court’s observations in *Preeti Gupta vs. State of Jharkhand and Achin Gupta vs. State of Haryana* from May 2024 and calls for their implementation by the central government.

Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old deputy general manager at a private firm, left behind a detailed suicide note accusing his wife and her family of harassment. He also alleged that a judge demanded Rs 5 lakh to settle his case, further underscoring the need for systemic reform.
