Ahmedabad, March 8 : The Sankalp India Foundation has unveiled a state-of-the-art 10-bed Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, dedicated to treating children suffering from blood disorders such as sickle cell anemia and thalassemia.
This advanced healthcare facility, established in collaboration with medical experts and supported by generous donors, marks a major step in providing life-saving treatment for children enduring frequent blood transfusions and related complications.
Located at Health 1 Super Speciality Hospital, the newly inaugurated Sankalp-Health1 Centre for Paediatric Hematology, Oncology, and BMT is the first of its kind in the region. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the unit offers streamlined, paperless care to ensure patients receive effective treatment without the burden of traveling long distances.
This initiative aligns with the Foundation’s mission to expand access to specialized healthcare, offering renewed hope to families across Gujarat and neighboring regions.
The opening ceremony welcomed distinguished guests such as Dr. Elke Neujahr, Global CEO of DKMS, and Mr. Shailesh Bhandari, Chairman of Electrotherm India Ltd. The BMT unit was dedicated in memory of Mechtild Harf from DKMS, recognizing her invaluable contributions.
