Dholpur, Nov 20 : Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision that “India lives in its villages,” the SAMRIDH (Smart and Modern Rural Infrastructure for Development, Diversity, and Harmony) program, supported by SBI Card, is a transformative effort aimed at comprehensive rural development. Executed by the Manjari Foundation, the initiative has revitalized Badagaon and Pipret villages in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district, establishing them as thriving models of rural prosperity driven by Village Development Committees (VDCs).
Community-Driven Transformation for Holistic Village Development
At the heart of SAMRIDH’s impact lies the formation and empowerment of VDCs, which lead the planning and execution of integrated development strategies. Key achievements of the program include:
1. Quality Education Infrastructure
– SMART Classrooms and Schools : Upgraded schools with modern facilities, including SMART classrooms equipped with quality benches, libraries, hygienic toilets, solar lighting, and playgrounds, have transformed the learning environment. Safety measures, such as web cameras, and aesthetic enhancements like educational wall murals based on the BALA (Building as Learning Aid) methodology further enhance the educational experience.
2. Women-Led Enterprises
– Pickle Production Units : Women in both villages now lead and operate pickle production units, crafting 11 varieties of pickles using indigenous methods and traditional recipes. This initiative, linked with modern markets through partnerships such as Reliance Smart Bazar, empowers women economically while preserving cultural heritage.
– Craft Clusters : In Badagaon, a craft cluster enables women to learn and practice skills like stitching, embroidery, and garment production, contributing to their financial independence and enhancing local crafts.
3. Sustainable Water Management
– Water Harvesting Structures : Newly constructed rainwater harvesting facilities provide crucial water resources for agriculture and livestock. These sites also double as recreational spaces for community walks, blending utility with leisure.
4. Health and Well-Being
– Open Gyms : Community members, particularly youth, benefit from open gyms that promote health and fitness.
– Community Centers : These centers serve as hubs for meetings, planning, and social events, enhancing communal bonds.
– PHC Renovation in Badagaon : The renovation of the Primary Health Center (PHC) included essential medical equipment, creating a better environment for patients and healthcare providers. The facility has seen increased patient visits due to the improved infrastructure.
5. Early Childhood Development
– Enhanced Anganwadi Centers : Upgraded with modern infrastructure, Anganwadis now provide children with safe, engaging, and nurturing environments to learn and grow.
6. Support for Tribal Girls’ Education
– Renovation of Pipret Tribal Girls’ Hostel : The hostel was revitalized with solar-powered lighting, an RO water system, dining and recreational facilities, and security cameras, offering a safe and supportive environment for girls’ education.
7. Infrastructure for Connectivity and Community Resilience
– Bus Shelters : Community members benefit from bus shelters that provide comfort and protection from harsh weather during commutes.
– Cleanliness Drive : The VDC-led cleanliness drive has ensured clean, hygienic villages, fostering community pride and well-being.
Village Gate: A Symbol of Unity and Shared Aspirations
The newly constructed village gate stands as a proud emblem of unity, progress, and the collective aspirations of our community. More than just an entrance, village gates hold deep cultural and social significance, reflecting the values, solidarity, and identity of the people. The design and architecture of our gate celebrate local heritage while symbolizing the hope for a brighter future.
Crafted by local artisans, the gate embodies resilience and the strength drawn from community ties. It serves as a space for gatherings, ceremonies, and celebrations, reinforcing the sense of belonging among residents. This landmark represents prosperity and is inspired by various sources that highlight the transformative power of such structures.
Our village gate is a pledge to creating a more inclusive and connected environment. It acts as a marker of progress for both visitors and locals, inviting opportunities for collaboration, commerce, and cultural exchange. This milestone reflects our commitment to growth, ensuring that our village remains a proud symbol of culture, unity, and shared success. Through this initiative, we honor traditions while paving the way for ongoing development and prosperity.
Building Capacity for Sustainable Development
Through training sessions and exposure visits, the Village Development Committee (VDC) members have been equipped to lead and sustain these transformative efforts. Their active involvement highlights the power and potential of community-driven development.
