New Delhi [India], March 25: In 2023, Anjali and Sachin Tendulkar met Bill Gates during his visit to Mumbai, where they discovered shared interests in philanthropy and child health. This common vision led to a collaboration between the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF) and the Gates Foundation (GF) to promote the holistic development of children, as per an STF release.

The partnership was recently formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between STF and GF. This agreement aims to address critical issues in healthcare, nutrition, education, and rural development, particularly focusing on children’s well-being. By combining GF’s global expertise with STF’s on-ground insights and resources, the collaboration seeks to create meaningful impact across India.

Founded in 2019 by Anjali and Sachin Tendulkar, the STF has been dedicated to enhancing access to healthcare, education, and sports for underprivileged children. Over the years, the foundation has collaborated with various NGOs and institutions, positively influencing over 100,000 lives and reaffirming its commitment to empowering future generations.

Previously, Bill Gates shared a lighthearted moment with Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, posting a video of them enjoying vada pav together, captioned, “A snack break before we get to work.” In his blog, Gates reflected on his visit to India, praising the nation’s innovative spirit and ambitious efforts to solve global challenges.

Sachin Tendulkar, widely revered as the ‘God of Cricket,’ holds numerous records, including the most runs in Test and One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and remains the only cricketer to score 100 international centuries. Having entertained fans worldwide from 1989 to 2013, Tendulkar made his Test debut at just 16 and went on to become an integral part of India’s cricketing legacy.

Among his many achievements, Tendulkar was the first player to score a double century in ODIs and played a record 200 Test matches. He was a crucial member of India’s 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup-winning squad, fulfilling his dream of lifting the prestigious trophy. Additionally, he played for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2013, contributing to their title victory in 2013.
