Dehradun, Jan 28 : The 38th National Games, commencing Tuesday in Uttarakhand, will feature thousands of athletes from across India, including over 50 participants representing Reliance Foundation. These athletes will compete in eight disciplines: athletics, boxing, badminton, shooting, judo, weightlifting, wrestling, and table tennis.
Tokyo Olympics medalist Lovlina Borgohain, a Reliance Foundation athlete, will make her first competitive appearance since the Paris Olympics. Judo prodigy Himanshi Tokas is another strong contender for medals. In athletics, notable Reliance Foundation athletes such as Jyothi Yarraji (100m hurdles), Tejas Shirse (110m hurdles), Manikanta Hoblidhar (100m), Amlan Borgohain (200m), and Rosy Meena Paulraj (pole vault)—all national record holders—will compete. Emerging stars like 2024’s fastest Indian sprinter Animesh Kujur, D.M. Jayaram, Bapi Hansda, and Sakshi Chavan are also set to showcase their prowess.
Expressing his enthusiasm, James Hillier, Athletics Director at Reliance Foundation, stated, “The National Games offer an invaluable chance for our athletes to evaluate their training and fitness. We are optimistic about seeing numerous medals from our team.”
