New Delhi, 3 July: State-owned REC Limited has approved ₹4.22 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to set up 100 smart classrooms in government schools across the Lakhimpur and Kaziranga regions of Assam, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening digital education and improving learning outcomes.
According to the company, the initiative aims to transform conventional classrooms into technology-enabled learning spaces by equipping them with smart teaching tools and digital learning solutions, thereby enhancing the quality of education for students in government schools.
The project was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on July 2 at REC Limited’s corporate office in Gurugram. The agreement was signed by L.B. Nautiyal, Head – CSR, REC Limited, and B. Vinod Kumar, Director, Indo German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT).
The MoA signing ceremony was attended by Arun Kumar Tyagi, Executive Director (CSR), REC Limited, along with senior officials from both organisations.
REC stated that the initiative is part of its broader CSR strategy to promote equitable access to quality education by leveraging digital technology. In addition to education, the company continues to implement CSR projects in healthcare, skill development, environmental sustainability, rural development and community welfare, contributing to inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development across India.
