Mumbai, May 10:  In a society where access to basic necessities like mobility and nutrition is often unequal, Mumbai-based NGO Ray of Joy is driving powerful change through two innovative and compassionate initiatives: its Wheelchair Distribution Program and the launch of India’s first Social ‘Any Time Ration’ (ATR) Machines.

Restoring Mobility, Dignity, and Independence

Ray of Joy’s Wheelchair Distribution Program is more than a medical aid effort—it’s a mission to restore dignity and independence to individuals with physical disabilities. Each wheelchair provided becomes a gateway to education, employment, social inclusion, and self-sufficiency, while also reducing dependence on caregivers.

“We’re not just offering a wheelchair—we’re offering freedom,” said Adv. Ravindra Jadhav, Co-founder of Ray of Joy. “Every device changes a life, but we need greater support to reach all those in need.”

Despite high demand, access to mobility aids remains limited, especially for low-income communities. Operating across Mumbai, Pune, and nearby regions, Ray of Joy is committed to expanding this life-transforming initiative amid rising operational costs.

Fighting Hunger with Dignity: India’s First Social ATR Machines

Alongside its mobility mission, the NGO has also introduced a pioneering solution to food insecurity—India’s first Social ‘Any Time Ration’ (ATR) Machines. These vending machines provide dry rations via a smart ATR Card system, ensuring seamless, dignified access to essentials for those outside formal government support channels.

Currently, Ray of Joy operates three ATR machines—two in Pune and one in Hyderabad—serving over 2,000 individuals monthly, including migrant workers and people with disabilities. What began as an emergency COVID-19 response has evolved into a scalable model for targeted, tech-driven food distribution.

“Our focus is to eliminate hunger caused by systemic and logistical barriers,” said Deepak Gondke, Co-founder. “With ATR, we’re using innovation to deliver food where it’s most needed.”

Empathy in Action: A Holistic Vision for Social Impact

Founded in 2018, Ray of Joy continues to expand its reach through projects in healthcare, education for children with special needs, hunger relief, and mobility assistance. Its twin initiatives—the Wheelchair Program and ATR Machines—exemplify the organization’s mission to build a more inclusive and compassionate society.

As the organization looks to grow its impact, it invites individual donors, CSR partners, and changemakers to support and amplify these efforts.
