As part of the #AppKaraBusKara campaign, Parisar plans to install interactive screens at five major bus depots in Pune: PMC, Swargate, Deccan, Kondhwa, Kothrud, and Bibwewadi. These screens will highlight various destinations, enabling commuters to see the potential of the app by selecting their desired location. The screens will provide information on available buses, travel times, and fares. “We’re not launching a full app; instead, we’ll install screens at select bus depots that show several destinations. Users can click on their chosen location to see details about buses, estimated travel times, and fares,” Allapur explained.
The campaign seeks to raise awareness and build support for the need for a comprehensive bus app. Allapur stressed the importance of effective public transportation in tackling the growing issues of congestion and pollution. “There is a significant information gap in bus transportation, especially in Pune. We want not only the bus app to be launched but also improved way-finding signage throughout the city,” he said. The NGO envisions a system where even those without the app can navigate the bus network easily. The prototype screens are expected to be installed at the identified bus depots in March, with a specific date to be announced soon. Parisar is hopeful for a strong response from Pune residents, encouraging them to engage actively in the #AppKaraBusKara campaign to drive positive changes in the city’s public transportation system.
