Ahmedabad, April 8: In a deeply troubling incident from Ahmedabad’s Rakhial area, a private video featuring a young woman and her male friend was allegedly recorded without consent and later circulated on social media by three individuals linked to an NGO.
The woman, who recently became aware that the intimate footage had been leaked nearly two-and-a-half years after it was recorded, has filed an official complaint with the Rakhial police station.
As per the police report, the woman lives in Rakhial with her husband. Around two-and-a-half years ago, she attended a family wedding in Juhapura, where she met Najimohmad Sultan Pathan. The two stayed in touch and eventually entered a romantic relationship. Pathan claimed to be a journalist and associated with an NGO operating out of a shopping complex in Rakhial.
During their conversations, the woman confided in Pathan about a financial issue involving ₹2.7 lakh that she was struggling to recover from a builder. Believing that his NGO connections could help her resolve the matter, she accepted his offer of assistance.
Pathan took her to the NGO office, where she was asked to pay ₹5,000 as a token fee. NGO members, including an advocate and trustees, assured her that the money would be recovered within a week. However, when no progress was made, she returned to the office for an update.
According to the complaint, on her subsequent visit, three individuals — Sohrat Saiyed (also known as Sunny), advocate V.A. Shaikh, and Rafique Noori — were present, along with Pathan. During a private moment shared between the woman and Pathan, the accused allegedly recorded a video without their knowledge.
Shockingly, the video resurfaced over two years later when it was allegedly leaked and shared in a social media group. The incident has caused significant emotional trauma to both individuals involved.
The woman has since approached the police, leading to an FIR being lodged against the three accused. Authorities have begun a formal investigation into the matter.
